Focus.

Honestly, it’s been hard for me to stay focused this year. Seems like I’m constantly getting distracted, whether it be by Netflix binges (Real House Wives of Beverly Hills) or cramming work in with late night social media scrolling. Some personal projects have been put on the back burner. I’m a little sad about this. Where does the time go? I find the best way for me to stay focused is to literally get away from all the crazy. I need to get back to nature. That’s easier said than done, however. Did I mention I live in New York???

Where’s a good cabin in the woods when you need one?! When I do pull away to a quiet place (even in my city apartment) I find, in spite of my big plans, the most important thing to focus on is LIFE. True life happens in the little moments between the professional rush and, well, sleep.

Do you know what I mean? I’m talking about savoring fleeting times when we let go of constant striving and focus on people. I’m talking about enjoying the moment. Chill. Laugh. Eat chips. Look into each other’s eyes. Focus on the now and don’t miss a thing!

I may not have tackled every professional project this year, but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated my family and friends. I love those moments, like watching a movie with my sister and seeing her face light up at the funny parts (when she doesn’t know I’m looking:).

I have the gift of life NOW. I’m not going to miss it.

The in-between moments matter to me. I want to keep my eye on the woman I want to be, but I don’t want to forget the girl I still am. I’m a daughter, granddaughter, sister, and friend.

I’m still the high school girl who blasted System of a Down in the car on my way to school (Late of course). I felt so alive and so connected with those I loved.

I’m still that girl.

Sure, I’ll take time to focus on my goals, but, what I really want to do is focus on what it means to be Brynn.

Today, with or without a secluded cabin, I focus on not missing a moment of love.
