My Favorite Love Flicks

It's the season of LOVE ! Now is the time to eat chocolates and snuggle up! Whether you are part of a duo or are a bold, wonderful single....now is the time to enjoy celebrate YOU and all the love you share!

Watching movies has always been one of my favorite things. Romantic comedies (rom-coms) are great, but so are dramas and unexpected movies about love. Below are some of my favorite movies to enjoy while munching on popcorn or chocolate hearts. I just love them and, hopefully, so will you. Enjoy!

Elizabethtown: Not only is this flick on my top list for romantic comedies...but this one is on my top list of all time. This is an unassuming love story involving family love, failure, loss, and....a sweet little romance. I think the best love stories are realistic and multi-faceted. --Not just boy meets girl... but boy fails, boy loses sense of self, boy connects with extended family...THEN boy meets girl. This is just a great movie full of things we can all relate to along with a big dose of heart. This is an underrated masterpiece. It doesn't hurt that it features Orlando Bloom and Kirsten Dunst either. Watch this baby now!

Casablanca: A beautiful classic. I love how Humphrey Bogart's rough exterior pairs with the gentle grace of Ingrid Bergman. It's nothing short of magical. If you haven't seen this classic, definitely add this beautiful movie to your list. P.S- This movie is set in Morocco and makes me want to go even more!

Little Women: I grew up with sisters and hated change so I always resonated with Jo from Little Women. Be sure to watch the version with Kirsten Dunst, Winona Ryder, and Susan Sarandon. It is beautiful. This movie shows how sisters who are so different go about finding love in different ways. They also find their voices and unique forms of expression. This is an empowering movie, girls. You can imagine yourself as bold Jo or determined Amy or sweet, contented Beth! This is a great one to watch with your gal pals or sisters. Highly recommended!

An American in Paris: Who can resist a musical? I grew up on musicals. My mom was big into acting and singing so this was part of my childhood. We would sing and dance our way through dozens of romantic production numbers!

Love Story: I love movies with feisty ladies. In Love Story, Ali MacGraw plays Jenny. She's a musical beauty who ends up falling in love (in one way or the other) with a Harvard jock. They have such great little fights in this movie. I get a kick out of their relationship. P.S- Don't forget the tissues for this one... I will NOT reveal the ending.

Amelie: An unexpected quirky love story set in Paris. Need I say more? I think not. If you haven't seen Amelie at this point you are missing out. Not only is the story fresh, but the music is superb. I could listen to the soundtrack on repeat for hours. The composer Yann Tiersen is one of my favorites.

10 Things I Hate About You: A high school favorite. Health Ledger and Julia Stiles are the perfect pair. This 90's movie is both sweet and nostalgic for me. I love how Julia is a tomboy in this one. I also love the dynamic between Julia and her sister in the movie. They teach each other a lot in the end.

Some Like It Hot: This is a funny one guys!  It's a good-old fashioned rom-com! Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis and Marilyn Monroe are a fiery trio. I love this movie because it makes me laugh out loud. Some like It Hot is a classic comedy that involves the mob, cross-dressing and even love. Hilarious!

Hope you enjoy the movies I LOVE! Would love to hear about your favorites. Please share them below!
